Episode 30: January 30, 2003 - Kamloops 650 Kennebecasis Valley 690

If in 5 years I was in charge of a "Trivia Channel", looking back at "Smart Ask Classics", this is probably one of the first ones I'd pick. What an unbelievable finish!

I'm still having trouble gathering my thoughts the morning after, so I'm going to put everything down point form... :-)

Congrats to Sean, Patrick, Lydia, and Mr. Thorne - you guys are very deserving of being in the semi-finals...
I'm glad the Ed The Sock question came back the other way towards Kamloops - no matter how much I'm cheering for KV - the right team needs to get the points if they deserve them :-)
KV's Athenian strategy is still working incredibly well...as Bullet said, they play it like pros :-) And even during the Lightning Round, they still continued to use it...as I said, a sure sign of when a team has composure is if they can Athenian in a tense lightning round :-)
Jacob had the game of his life, going 12-for-14 and scoring 490 points. It's really too bad that he mixed up his nursery rhymes, and I feel really badly for him, because with the way he played today, he really deserved to go on. I really hope his classmates don't give him a hard time, because he certainly doesn't deserve it.
Rahim (90pts) and Megan (100pts) didn't score quite as well as they had the previous two games, but they still contributed quite a bit.
Sean is going to be a star for quite a few years. For somebody to have the prescence of mind to slap the buzzer with scant seconds remaining and take what seemed to be a bit of a guess (judging by the reaction), is the mark of a great player.
Note to Mio and Nobu: This is what happens when you let two teams go at it in a long lightning round. Way to go - and thank you for not putting in too many distracting comments!
The look of joy on Sean, Patrick, and Lydia's faces after realizing they've won was probably one of the happiest moments I have ever seen in my innumerable years of trivia...and kudos to my TV tuner/video capture card - a still shot of Patrick and Lydia mobbing Sean currently sits as my Desktop wallpaper. Go KV!
