Episode 16: January 7, 2003 - Calmar 510 Swan Valley 540

Well. If one just looked at the score of this game, and maybe a chart of how the game went, you'd think this was a pretty exciting game. But I didn't think so.

Yes, Swan Valley did get off to a good start, and Calmar clawed back the defecit, but I really didn't feel that either team showed any sort of confidence in their answers, which made the game feel very dry to me.

Dirty Half Dozen did nothing for my emotion, it was miles too difficult for the players today.

And in the lightning round, I'm very surprised by Calmar's strategy. It really seemed to me that they were so afraid of getting an answer wrong that they wouldn't ring in at all, probably hoping that the time would run out on Swan Valley's charge. Comparing it to hockey, I guess it would be trivia's version of the neutral zone trap. Obviously, it didn't work. (And if it were hockey, we'd have had to go upstairs to make sure that Bobby got in before the buzzer :-) )

On a more positive note, I'd like to wish Bobby from Swan Valley best of luck with the Enviro-Thon, and Amber a great trip around the world.

My last thought tonight: In trivia, a lead is like very much a balloon: If you sit on it, it tends to burst. And it certainly burst on Calmar tonight. 1
