Episode 17: January 8, 2003 - Avonlea 280 Alexander von Humboldt 250

It's very hard to come up with thoughts in a game where both schools combined for 14 correct answers. For comparison, St. George's had 28 in their first match.

However, the game did show how important wagering in Dawg Eat Dawg was. Avonlea wagered 60, Humboldt 30 - and the game was decided by Avonlea's gain in Dawg Eat Dawg.

It also seems that the CBC could very well have made questions more difficult in week 2 after seeing teams devour questions during week 1. Or maybe not -- when neither team would even take a guess to try to name the defending Stanley Cup champion...do they even deserve to keep their Canadian citizenship? ;-)

I'm also very surprised that Humboldt didn't take more of a stab during the Lightning Round with seconds left...they left 3 or 4 questions alone to end the game! No guts, no glory, I guess...

Well, if Josh from Avonlea can put a good game together (as opposed to just a good opening round), they should give Swan Valley a good run in round 2.

Oh, by the way, the next two matches I was in the audience for. Remind me to post my experiences in the Smart Ask audience sometime in the next couple of days... :-) 1
