Episode 28: February 20, 2004 - Notre Dame 1,160 (1,060) Swan Valley 1,150 (1,050)
Wow!
Now that was a game that started semi-dull and got better as the match wore on...as eagle-eyed viewers would have seen I was out of my seat at the end of it...
Some random points:
Garrett completely carried Swan Valley in this game and had another incredible 100 point Lightning Round, Garrett (1200) is 2nd only to Danny Hickie (1500) in points scored in the 100-LR...
Good on Mio and Nobu for their little bit at the beginning, nice job there - and that applies to all game shows...
Oh wait, there was another team wasn't there? Notre Dame did an amazing job of matching Swan Valley stroke for stroke and pulled it out at the end...nice job guys!
Notre Dame's T-shirt rocks my socks.
From my dad: Huge props to Steve for having the presence of mind to answer without being acknowledged on the final question of the game -- it prevented Mio and Nobu from calling time before his game winning response, sending Notre Dame through to the quarters...
To the coaches at Notre Dame: You were right. There was a scoring error. In the early Lightning Round, they accidentally gave Swan Valley 100 points for a 50 point question, and then gave Swan Valley 50 for a correct answer from Notre Dame. However, it was "corrected" by giving Notre Dame an extra 100. Of course, by the time I'd checked my Palm Pilot, I'd forgotten that the score in the studio read 1160-1150. Sorry about that!
